Revelopment CPTED Program

DECATUR — The City of Decatur now has grants of up to $4,500 available for low-to-moderate income residents to fund security improvements as part of its Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) program.

The city’s Neighborhood redevelopment division is now making appointments for residents who are interested in the program, which will provide immediate grants for the owners of structurally sound single-unit residential units occupied by low- and moderate income residents. Qualified homeowners will receive grants of up to $4,500 for security improvements such as lighting, tree trimming, and security doors.

Homeowners must be income eligible and live within city limits. Interested homeowners may inquire about the program with the Department of Economic and Urban Development on the 3rd floor of the Civic Center between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. or call 424-2797.

Funding for the program is provided through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Contact the City of Decatur’s Neighborhood Redevelopment Division at 424-2797 for more information.
