FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GIS Day To Be Held At Decatur Public Library
DECATUR — The City of Decatur and Macon County will host GIS day from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18 at the Decatur Public Library.
The event is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
GIS stands for Geographic Information Systems and represents an innovative new way to access property-related data for property throughout the area. GIS technology integrates mapping and various levels of data that might be of interest to the public and is accessible from the city’s web site at www.decaturil.gov under the button “Digital Atlas” or at www.maconcounty-il.gov by clicking “county GIS.”
GIS technology can be useful to realtors, engineers, business owners, neighborhood leaders, students or anyone interested in property information.
For example, a person could enter an address and find out information related to school districts, garbage haulers, flood zones, neighborhood groups and other information that can be of great help to a resident, realtor or anyone else who has property-related questions.
For more information call 424-2778 or 424-2753.
