Water Service Insurance Letters Not From City
DECATUR – Letters from a company billed as “Home Service USA” soliciting residents to sign up for water service line insurance coverage are not being sent by the City of Decatur.
The letters indicate that the service “protects you against the costs associated with fixing the service line that brings water in to your home” and says that residents would be entitled to a “risk-free 30 day review.” The City of Decatur is in no way affiliated with this solicitation or the company and does not endorse Home Service USA in any way.
The water billing department has received 25 calls from concerned residents this week asking if the letters were a part of a city sponsored program. Residents should always be careful when sending personal information to individuals or companies with which they are not familiar.
