DECATUR - The official ballot order for the April 5, 2011 Decatur City Council election was determined this week with current council member Patrick Laegeler securing the first spot on the seven-candidate ballot looking to secure one of three contested four-year city council seats.
The official order as determined by lottery is as follows:
- Patrick Laegeler
- Matthew Jackson
- Delane J. Chapman
- Andrew R. Weatherford
- Dana Ray
- Paul W. “Doc” Conlin II
- Larry W. Foster
A total of four council seats will be up for election in April - three four-year seats and one two-year seat vacated after the resignation yesterday by State Rep.-Elect Adam Brown following his November election to the Illinois House of Representatives. The Mayor and Decatur City Council will have 60 days to appoint a replacement for Brown who will serve until the election and details will be forthcoming as to the process for filling the seat.
Mayor Mike McElroy will run unopposed for a four-year mayoral term.
