South Water Treatment Plant to Garfield and Division Water Towers

Workers from Atlas Construction Company are attaching a new 48” diameter valve to the main drinking water pressure pipe inside the South Water Treatment plant. Since the valve had to be attached to the piping system that serves the entire City of Decatur and Mt. Zion, this work had to be accomplished between 1:00 AM and 4:00 AM on Friday morning, January 29th. While the valve was being attached, pressure in the City’s water system was maintained by the Division Street and Grand Avenue water towers. All work was completed on-time as planned.
