Auxiliary Police Logo The Decatur Police Auxiliary Unit is allotted 35 positions. The Auxiliary Unit is a volunteer unit, which provides traffic control and security for over 40 events a year. Auxiliary Officers also assist sworn officers during Special Events, Roadside Safety Checks and acting as a back up officer during shift patrols. The number of events and annual service hours continue to increase with a ten-year average of 6,247 hours annually. Special events include numerous parades, walks / runs, escorts and the Decatur Celebration.
