Parking Tickets Appeals (only those issued by Decatur PD officer) If you choose to appeal your parking ticket; then, you can do this by picking up an appeal form at the Decatur Civic Center, 2nd floor, Finance Department. To expedite your written appeal, please attach any and all documents that support the premise of your appeal.
Most FAQ and appeals:
Appeal: I was issued a parking ticket for no valid registration, but my registration is actually valid. I just forgot to put it on my vehicle.
Answer/Supporting Documents: Then you should complete the appeal’s form stating that fact, and attach a photo copy of your registration card to your appeal form.
Appeal: I no longer own this vehicle. I sold the vehicle and the new owner did not transfer the title.
Answer/Supporting Documents:Then you should complete the Illinois Secretary of State Vehicle Registration and/or Title Revocation Request form. Make sure that you include the vehicle identification number, make a photo copy of the form and send or fax the original letter to the address listed on the form.

Then you should complete a Parking Ticket Appeal form attach the copy of this form to your parking ticket appeal form and submit those documents to the City of Decatur Finance Department.
Appeal: I received a handicap parking ticket. I did park in a handicap space, but I do have a handicap placard; however, I forgot to display it.
Answer/Supporting documents: Then you should complete an appeals form stating that fact and attach a copy of your placard and driver’s license to the appeals form.
