Kick off meeting The group brainstormed on the schools that are needed to be considered for the program. There was a consensus on concentrating on the inner city schools. Jan. 2008
Identifying Issues and setting goals

Do have any projects in mind around these schools that illustrates an ability to accommodate and increase safe biking and walking access and connectivity along school routes? Let us know.
Information related to the schools, infrastructure and safety conditions around the schools was gathered and complied. This helped the committee in setting goals and picking the schools for further analysis. The following four schools were selected and Analyzed: French Academy, Dennis Elementary School, Hope Academy and Harris Elementary School. In working with the principals of the schools, the committee prioritized William-Harris Elementary School for 2008 grant application.

To be able to apply for the grant we need to address the 5E’s: Engineering, Education, Enforcement, Evaluation and Encouragement. We are now formed into sub committees to better address the E’s.
